Maria Edible

"I eat like a pig but look like a lady that eats like a pig," notes Maria Edible on her Twitter feed. Of course, she should quip that she looks like a lady "who" eats like a pig; one should use "that" in reference to groups or to things and "who" in reference to people. And Maria Edible is most definitely people. And most definitely a lady who can eat like a pig at the MLE table. In a good way. To wit: Twenty Nathan's HDBs in 10, nine cheesesteaks in 10 and 48 cupcakes in just six minutes. Bravo, Maria. She burst—figuratively, people—on the MLE scene at a Nathan's qualifier in 2011 and has never looked back. People have looked at her, however. Because in addition to being an MLE eater, Maria is a successful model, as anyone who has rolled their mouse over www.mariaedible.com's Eye Candy section will agree. She has shot for noted tattoo journals, including Inked Magazine, Rebel Ink, Retro Lovely and NY Ink. Students of the eating sciences have noted a curious phenomenon. As Ms Edible has acquired more tattoos, so too has she acquired the ability to eat more, her capacity and totals growing with every new drop of ink. Maybe it's simply the experience that comes with time. Maybe there's something else at play. Something that science is yet to explain, like so many mysteries before it. Who can say?
