Honoring tradition, our esteemed contest will unfold just before the Big Ten Football Championship game. Those present will be treated to the gastronomic delight that is the World-Famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail, where the freshest of seafood encounters the fiery bravado of St. Elmo’s legendary, horseradish-infused cocktail sauce. This isn’t just food; it’s an experience!
The 2022 Championship was a history-making event, witnessing Geoff Esper rise as a veritable juggernaut, ending Joey Chestnut's eight-year reign. Esper set a staggering new standard, consuming 16lb 6.4oz of World-Famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail in eight minutes. Not far behind was Miki Sudo, showcasing incredible prowess with 14lb 14.4oz. Nick Wehry held his own at 11lb, while the long-time champion Joey Chestnut, facing a surprising turn of events, came in fourth at 10lb 9.6oz. While other contenders didn’t reach the top ranks, their heart and dedication contributed to an unforgettable event full of camaraderie and competitive spirit.
