Tamales, people! So many tamales! Delicious Padrino Foods tamales! The best in the world! Major League Eating is proud to announce the return of The Padrino Foods World Tamale Eating Championship Presented By Market Street at the Western Days Festival to our 2022 slate of sanctioned eating contests. Major League Eaters are warmly encouraged to sign up for the chance to once more journey to Lewisville, TX, to compete in this legendary event.

At last year’s event, the great Geoff Esper ate 86 Padrino Foods tamales in 10 minutes for the win. Miki Sudo would finish second with 76.5; Steve Hammond took the bronze with 54. Esper’s winning total was nine short of his world-record setting total of 95, set in 2019. That record is on the line at this year’s championship. Of course.

Will it be you who sets a new record in the tamale discipline? Will you eat less but be okay with that knowing you gave your all in the effort? Do you simply want to see the best in the world do what they do? This is The Padrino Foods World Tamale Eating Championship Presented By Market Street at the legendary Western Days Festival! This contest will take place at high noon TX time at a location to be confirmed on Saturday, September 24th, 2022, in beautiful downtown Lewisville, TX, as part of the Western Days Festival!

About The Western Days Festival In Historic Old Town Lewisville! The Padrino Foods World Tamale Eating Championship Presented By Market Street* is a highlight of the annual Western Days Festival in historic Old Town Lewisville, TX. The Lewisville Convention and Visitors Bureau organize this MLE-sanctioned competition. Padrino Foods is the official provider of contest tamales at the World Tamale Eating Championship. Past champions of this event include Geoffrey Esper, Darron Breeden, Adrian "The Rabbit" Morgan, Tim “Eater X” Janus, Sonya Thomas, Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo. Other festival events include live music, a classic car show, an art exhibit, children’s activities and more.
