ESPER TAKES BUFFALO BUFFET BOWL TITLE!
The year of Esper continues apace! The man from Oxford, MA, continued his incredible 2017 with a marquee victory at the 2017 Buffalo Buffet Bowl. We shall name those he felled in the process: Chestnut, Cincotti, Oji, Breeden, et al. This was a pure win in a speed event; Esper ate five pounds of assorted Buffalo cuisine—beef on weck, Buffalo crunch rolls, and pizza—in three minutes and 51 seconds.
It was an incredible feat, by any metric. Chestnut and Cincotti would tie for second, some 16 seconds after Esper had finished his food. Sixteen seconds is a lifetime on the MLE stage; one can only imagine what was going though the minds of Chestnut and Cincotti during that period, knowing that they would not win and would have to settle for second at best or out of the money at worst. As the best competitive eaters have been saying for 100 years: It’s hard to eat when you know you’re beat.
