STONIE OUTDUELS CHESTNUT IN CAPACITY CLASSIC!
Don't call it an upset. (Okay, maybe a little bit of an upset.) Can Stonie beat Chestnut in a sprint? Yes. Can Stonie beat Chestnut in an event where throat strength and swallowing power are keys to victory, such as in the Creek Indian Taco discipline? Yes. And can Stonie defeat Chestnut in poutine? The answer, as of 3.52pm Eastern on Saturday October 4, 2014 is yes. Because he did.
Smoke's Poutinerie poutine is right in Chestnut's wheelhouse: Jaw strength and capacity over 10 long minutes. That is Chestnut turf, plain and simple. And yet today, it was Stonie who grew glory in that patch. Final tune: 14.75lb to Stonie, 11.75lb to Chestnut. Stonie was smooth and clean throughout the event; Chestnut struggled to find a rhythm. He paid the ultimate place—finishing second to the Stonieator, an admittedly clumsy nickname that fuses the words "Stonie" and "Terminator" and features the word "eator," which is a misspelling of "eater," which is what Matthew Stonie is. It may not stick. It probably should not. Let's see.
All hail Stonie. A new dawn. A new day. A new vision of what the future may look like. Chestnut will wear this one hard. He will learn. His heart will harden. His vision will narrow. In his sights: A slim-hipped prodigy who dares to steal his sunshine.
Be careful what you wish for, Matthew Stonie. The beast has arisen.
