Number-one ranked eater in the world, Joey Chestnut, defeated top-ranked female competitive eater Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas in competitive eating’s historic battle of the sexes at the Pizza Hut® P’Zone® Eating CHOW-lenge. The CHOW-lenge marked the first-ever head-to-head match-up between Chestnut and Thomas.

Chestnut devoured 7.5 P’Zones in 10 minutes to secure the victory and establish a new world record.

Chestnut, the current four-time Fourth of July hot dog eating champ from San Jose, CA, has rarely been beaten in the past two years, and never by a woman other than Thomas. He sought revenge after losing to Thomas in chicken wings over Labor Day Weekend 2010, a loss that sent shockwaves through the sports world.

Thomas, a 100-pound eating phenom from Alexandria, VA holds world records in 25 disciplines including oysters (46 dozen in 10 minutes), hardboiled eggs (65 in 6 minutes, 40 seconds) and cheesecake (11 pounds in 9 minutes.

Portions of the match-up between Joey Chestnut and Sonya Thomas were broadcasted on the Spike TV Guys Choice awards that aired on June 10 at 9pm/8c.
