The 2026 Sun Bum Banana Eating World Championship Is Coming to Wildwood

Go Bananas. Literally.
Hosted at East Side Surf Shop on the legendary Wildwood boardwalk, this 10-minute showdown will crown the very first banana-eating world champion and set a brand-new record on May 23rd at 1pm.

A World Record Waiting to Be Set
Here’s the twist: there is no current world record. That means whoever wins this contest doesn’t just take the title, they’re the undisputed banana champion!

We’re thrilled to partner with Sun Bum for this historic event as stop #5 of their Smells Like Summer Tour,  a cross-country trek in their 1963 Chevy ice cream truck.  Spreading fun and SPF all over the United States.  We anticipate a packed boardwalk and surprises galore!

In 2010 Sun Bum started making products to protect our friends and families from the sun. Since then, we’ve grown a bit, but we haven’t changed. Our Cocoa Beach office is an old Florida beach house off A1A. Our Moonlight Beach office is in the groovy little town of Encinitas, California, just a block away from the sand. And like any good beach day, everyone’s welcomed to the bonfire. We care about our people and making more meaningful connections outside.
