Chestnut Crushes World Shrimp Cocktail Eating Record!
12-06-2015
Indianapolis, IN There is no eater like the Great One, Joey Chestnut. And there is no shrimp cocktail like the St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail. That is because the World Famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail is known globally as a horseradishey flavor bomb that clears sinuses faster than you can say, "Wow, that's rather horseradishey." This is not an event for the faint of heart or weak of stomach.
Joey Chestnut is neither feint of heart nor weak of stomach. He is a lion. And at the 2015 installment of The World Famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail Eating Championship–Located at the Meijer Tail Greater Party on Georgia St, he ate 12.25lb of St Elmo Shrimp Cocktail in 8 minutes to set a new WR. (Chestnut held the previous record of 10.42lb, set in 2014.) Only one other contestant, Ms Miki Sudo, reached 50 percent of the Great One's total. His domination of this event remains absolute. Dude crushed it.
So, let's take a moment to let our minds drift past the holiday period, through new year's eve, after all the gifts have been returned, and into 2016. Let us not mince words: 2015 has not been a stellar year for the Great One. He lost the #1 World Ranking to Matthew Stonie. Further, he did not beat the slim-hipped prodigy all year. He is, and this is what must hurt most, the second best at what he does so well.
This win, however, in the final event of 2015, will sharpen his teeth. We look forward to renewed conflict in the new year.
