Major League Eating Seeks to Raise $25,000 for Japan Quake Victims

Today, Major League Eating donated $5,000 to Save the Children, an organization that is conducting relief efforts in Japan. MLE's $5,000 donation to the Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund will be matched automatically, resulting in $10,000 of total charitable support. In addition, MLE has pledged to match donations by competitive eaters up to an additional $5,000.
MLEgives, the charitable arm of Major League Eating, said that it is seeking to raise no less than $25,000, including donations from the organization, its members and clients, for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The organization plans to leverage the 2011 competitive eating season to generate additional funding for those affected by the disaster.
