Ribs in Reno - Burritos in Albuquerque

The John Ascuaga's Best in the West Nugget World Rib Eating Championship is set for Wednesday, September 1 at 6:00pm! The event, now in its fifth year, will see which Major League Eater can join the ranks of the two greats who have won this event: Joey Chestnut ('06-'08) and Pat Bertoletti ('09). A $5,000 cash purse is on-the-line in the 12-minute contest. The J.A. Nugget is located in Sparks, NV outside Reno.

Registration for the John Ascuaga's Best in the West Nugget World Rib Eating Championship will open on IFOCE.com TODAY, August 16 at 4:00pm EST.

Also added to the September slate is the Garcia's World Burrito Eating Championship at the New Mexico State Fair. The contest will feature beef and green chile burritos from Garcia's Kitchen along with $3,000 in prize money. All the action will take place at 2:30pm on Saturday, September 11. Many will remember last year's event which was won by Bob Shoudt (33.5 burritos in 10 minutes) and also featured the debut of MLE Rookie of the Year, Ben Monson.
