Stockton Asparagus Festival
01-20-2004
The Stockton Asparagus Festival will host a deep-fried asparagus-eating contest on April 24, 2004 as a highlight of its 19th annual event in Stockton, CA.
The 12-minute, all-you-can-eat contest, which will determine the world asparagus-eating champion, is expected to test eaters in jaw strength and hand speed. This contest joins the pea-eating contest in growing the IFOCE vegetable category.
The Stockton Asparagus Festival is a three-day, multi-event food and entertainment festival, celebrating asparagus, San Joaquin County's most distinguished agricultural product.
The festival features three performing stages, an Asparagus Alley with world-renowned deep fried asparagus, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, a classic car show, a wine and beer pavilion, a craft show and exhibits by more than 70 food purveyors and 100 specialty merchandise vendors.
The time and exact location of the asparagus-eating contest will be posted soon. For registration and further details email the IFOCE.
