KRYSTAL ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR KRYSTAL SQUARE OFF IV WORLD HAMBURGER
EATING CHAMPIONSHIP

NINE-CITY QUALIFYING TOUR STARTS AUGUST 22 IN CHATTANOOGA

Chattanooga, Tenn., August 02, 2007 - The Krystal Company, the fast
food icon famous for its fresh, hot, small, square hamburgers craved
by millions all across the South, today announced the dates and
cities for the 2007 Krystal Square Off World Hamburger Eating
Championship, one of the majors in competitive eating and the only
world hamburger-eating championship sanctioned by Major League
Eating, the world governing body of all stomach-centric sports.

Billed in its fourth year as Krystal Square Off IV and annually
drawing thousands of the world's top eaters and amateur hopefuls, the
three-month long qualifying circuit and championship event will
officially get underway on August 22, 2007, in Chattanooga, with the
first of nine regional qualifiers. From there, the road to the top
burger title will journey to cities all across the South with each
city sending its winner to the World Championship event held in
downtown Chattanooga in early November.

At the Krystal Square Off IV final, competitors will face three-time
champion and world record holder Takeru Kobayashi of Japan. The King
of the Krystal, Kobayashi has never lost a Krystal Square Off contest
and receives an automatic seat at the final table this year after
smashing his own world record in 2006 by eating an astonishing 97
Krystals in eight minutes. For the second year in a row, Kobayashi
went Krystal for Krystal in 2006 against American sensation Joey
Chestnut, who finished just behind Kobayashi with a mark of 92
Krystals.

The dates and cities for the Krystal Square Off IV qualifying circuit

"Like following the 'Fight of the Century' between Muhammad Ali and
Joe Frazier, the world is craving a rematch between Takeru Kobayashi
and Joey Chestnut. Before that can happen though, Chestnut still has
to qualify for the World Championship at one of our nine regional
qualifiers," explained Brad Wahl, vice president of marketing, The
Krystal Company. "And it won't be easy for the new number one ranked
eater in the world. We anticipate more than 2,000 hopefuls to compete
in our circuit events, including all of the top eaters in the world,
and the competition will be fiercer than ever as guys like Patrick
Bertoletti and Tim "Eater X' Janus are out to prove that this is more
than a two man contest."
