Louisiana Oyster Bowl Predicts Sugar Bowl Victor

01-05-2004

Louisiana native Boyd Bulot led an LSU eating squad against Crazy Legs Conti and an OU eating squad in the first-ever Louisiana Oyster Bowl that aired on Sunday, January 4th during the Sugar Bowl pre-game show on ABC 26 in Louisiana.

Sponsored by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, the Louisiana Oyster Bowl occurred in the fabled Acme Oyster House on Iberville Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Oklahoma fans rooted on Conti.s squad with all their might, but the hometown crowd, combined with Bulot.s speed and capacity, delivered the Louisiana team a resounding victory.

Bulot led all eaters with 17 dozen Louisiana Oysters during four one-minute quarters. Crawfish Nick and IFOCE newcomer Fireman Mike helped Bulot.s team to victory. Conti consumed a solid 14 dozen in four minutes of play, but his team of amateurs was unable to lend enough support to fend off the Tiger attack.

In the Sugar Bowl, Louisiana beat Oklahoma 21 to 14. The win gave the Tiger.s their first national title since 1958 and proved that the Louisiana Oyster Bowl is an accurate predictor of the outcome of the Sugar Bowl.
