Thomas Takes UK Mince Pie Eating Contest

Sonya Thomas won the Wookey Hole Big Eat Mince Pie Eating Championship, considered to be the the single greatest sporting event in the long history of the United Kingdom.

The competition took place at the Big Top restaurant at Wookey Hole Caves in Wells Somerset. Thomas consumed 46 mince pies, a new world record, while Shane Bridle placed second with with 15, and AD Tree Pirate (that rare combination of a pirate and a chainsaw sculptor) came in third with 13.5 pies.

A 74-year-old woman, billed as the world's oldest competitive eater, competed as well.
