$100,000 to Amateur Who Can Top Chestnut's Grilled Cheese Record
08-30-2006
There is a $100,000 Bounty on Joey Chestnut's world grilled cheese-eating record.
GoldenPalace.net has announced that it will hold amateur contests prior to every event on the 2006 fall circuit with a prize of $100,000 for the amateur who can break Joey Chestnut's record of 47 grilled cheese sandwiches in 10 minutes.
The amateur contests will be limted to residents of the state in which the event is taking place and competitors must have never before competed in an eating contest. (Other rules and restrictions apply and will appear on contest application.)
“This is an ideal opportunity for a person seeking to consume 47 days worth of lunch while earning a generous year's salary -- all within 10 minutes," said IFOCE Chair George Shea. "It's just common sense to get it all done quickly and free up time for other pursuits."
“America has never fully recognized its debt to the grilled cheese sandwich,” said IFOCE President Richard Shea. “I hope that this remarkable bounty will highlight the grilled cheese’s position as one of history’s great entrees.”
