Shoo-Fly Showdown

Shoo-Fly Pie Day in Lancaster, Pa is as recognizable as 4th of july in Coney Island. The gods of Competetive Eating held off the rain long enough to see two heats of sanctioned competition on Saturday.

In the 1st 8-min round, 18 Dutch Country rookies dueled in shoo-fly pie. First place($250 gift certificate to Rockvale Outlets) went to "gooey" Sean Gordon with 3.75lbs. Runner-up was York, PA's Chris "the hunk" Brunk with 3.5lbs. "The Intimidater" JD Slater(rumored to be AC's father) came in third with 3.1lbs.

In the pro's show, Eater X returned to defend the coveted "Heavyweight Champion Shoo-Fly Pie Belt", and although he posted 8.25lbs in 8mins (over 1.5 more than his previous year's record) it was only good enough for second place on The Rockvale Outlets stage this year.

Humble Bob captured the title with an incredible 9.25lbs and the 1st place prize of $2,000. A new-comer, 20-yr-old "Cincinnati Kid" Nathan Kunce beat out some of the favorites, including Yellow-cake Subich, Brick-House Braunstien, and managed to edge out Crazy Legs Conti by 0.1 lbs., claiming 3rd place with 5.5lbs.
