Sonya Thomas Wins GoldenPalace.net Grilled Cheese Finals

The Passion of the Crust reached its apex today at the GoldenPalace.net World Grilled Cheese Eating Championship when Sonya Thomas edged out Joey Chestnut by just half a sandwich for the win. Thomas consumed 26 grilled cheeses to Chestnut's 25.5.

In third place was the wildly impressive Patrick Bertoletti. Still a rookie, Bertoletti consumed 24.5 grilled cheeses to stun an otherwise veteran field of gurgitators.

"I don't care if it rains or freezes," sang Bertoletti in the heart of New York's Times Square. "Cuz I ate 24 grilled cheeses, earlier today at Planet Hollywood."

In total, the competitors split GoldenPalace.net's generous $20,000 cash purse. Sonya's exploits were reported around the world, and in the United Kingdom.
