Donahue over LeFevre in 84 Lumber Baked Bean Match

10-26-2005

Jed Donahue won the 84 Lumber Baked Bean Eating Contest in Chandler, Arizona, consuming 84 ounces (5.25 pounds) of baked beans in 1 minute, 45 seconds.

Rich LeFevre placed second with a time of 1 minute, 59 seconds and Justin Mih, a student at UC Irvine, placed third, finsihing in 3 minutes, 30 seconds. Donahue earned $1,250, LeFevre, $500 and Mih, $250 for their performances.

Donahue continues to build on a very strong 2005 season and LeFevre ate remarkably well for someone who originally was known for the long game.

No one has yet approached the record of 1 minute, 22 seconds, held by Bangladeshi eater, Dale Boone. Boone, who is leading corporate outsourcing efforts in India, is not expected to travel to the United States until next spring.
