‘Jalapeno’ Jed Donahue added another impressive accomplishment to his competitive eating resume on Monday night in Lake Perris, CA, devouring 20 ½ grilled cheese sandwiches in 10 minutes to win an official qualifier of the 2005 GoldenPalace.net World Grilled Cheese Eating Championship.

Donahue wins $1,000 and earns a spot in the GoldenPalace.net World Grilled Cheese Eating Championship, where $20,000 in prize money will be on the line. Finishing second and winning $500 was Justin Mitt with 14 grilled cheese sandwiches, while finishing third and winning $250 was Anthony Caldera with 13.

‘Jalapeno’ Jed skyrocketed to fame in the early 90s by eating 152 jalapeno peppers in 15 minutes. He has enjoyed a comeback during the past 18 months, posting high numbers in prestigious disciplines such as donut and popcorn.
