Chili Eating Title Goes to LeFevre Again

The world's most determined competitive eaters converged in Reno, NV, on October 4th, to compete in the 2nd Annual Stagg Chili Eating Contest. The contest was part of the World's Championship Chili Cookoff sanctioned by The International Chili Society. The winner received the coveted ICS cup and a $500 prize.

The impressive field of eaters included 2002 champion Rich .The Locust. LeFevre, a Henderson, NV resident, who ate an astounding 166 ounces of chili (approximately 1 ½ gallons) in 10 minutes last year. Also competing was Spencer Thomas of Nevada, Arnie Chapman of New York, Marie .Chang Saw. Chang of California and Les Crawford of Montana.

LeFevre cruised to an easy victory, downing more than 1 gallon of chili in 10 minutes. Last year, LeFevre consumed 1 ½ gallons of chili in the same time period.

The International Chili Society (ICS) is a non-profit organization that sanctions chili cookoffs with judging and cooking rules & regulations. These events are worldwide and benefit charities or non-profit organizations. All winners of ICS sanctioned cookoffs qualify to compete for cash prizes and awards at the World.s Championship Chili Cookoff held each year on the first weekend of October. The ICS is the largest food contest, festival organization in the world.
