Rockvale Outlets Shoo Fly Pie Contest in PA
06-08-2005
Lancaster, PA's Rockvale Outlets will host the World’s Greatest Shoo-Fly Pie-Eating Championship on June 25, at 3:00 p.m. The Shoo-Fly Pie-Eating title, respected for its elusiveness as much as the fame certain to greet its possessor, will be accompanied by a $500 shopping spree as first-place prize.
“We are excited to bring this fun and unique brand of sports entertainment to the local community,” said David Ober of Rockvale Outlets. “Shoo-Fly Pie, a Pennsylvania Dutch dessert, is a sponge cake baked in a crust that contains a heavy molasses filling. It must be made with molasses to be a true ‘Shoo-Fly Pie’."
This is an IFOCE event and the IFOCE will handle all registration. There are spots available, and interested competitors over the age of 18 should call 212-627-5766 or register online on the contests page.
Rockvale Outlets is hosting the event in partnership with Good Food, Inc. and Dutch Haven. Rockvale Outlets is an award-winning, 560,000-square-foot outlet shopping center constructed on 64 acres in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Among the largest and most successful factory outlet centers in the country, Rockvale Outlets includes a total of eighteen single-level, brick front buildings that offer 120 factory outlets.
