Janus Takes East Hartford Nathan's Match

05-21-2005

Tim Janus earned top honors at the second qualifier of the 2005 Nathan's Famous circuit by eating 22 1/2 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes, tying the personal best of former world hot dog eating great Ed Krachie.

Placing second was Allen Goldstein, with 18 1/2 HDBs in 12 minutes, and in third place was newcomer Pat with 15. The event, which last year featured renowned Connecticut eating champion, William Stobierski, drew the largest crowd ever assembled in the strip mall, which includes a free-standing Nathan's among 20 other retailers.

The next qualifier takes place at the Independence Visitors Center in Philadelphia, PA, on Memorial Day Weekend.
