Harrahs Toasted Ravioli Eating Championship
11-19-2004
Eater X (Tim Janus), Crazy Legs Conti and Sonya Thomas are expected to travel to St. Louis, MO, attend the Harrah’s World Toasted Ravioli-Eating Championship Co-Presented by Charlie Gitto’s. At stake is a total of $5,000.
The food on the competitive eating table will be the trademark-toasted ravioli of the new Charlie Gitto’s location at Harrah’s St. Louis. This food is difficult to eat in competition and might provide a challenge for those unfamiliar with the dish.
“From what I understand Sonya Thomas is going to eat more toasted ravioli during a 12 minute period than our best customers at Charlie Gitto’s at Harrah’s eat in an entire month -- and that’s saying something,” said Charlie Gitto, the restaurant’s founder.
“Harrah’s St. Louis Casino & Hotel and Charlie Gitto’s are thrilled to bring this exciting form of athletic entertainment to St. Louis,” said Jennifer Weissman, VP Marketing of Harrah’s. “It will be very interesting to see how the nation’s top eaters deal with tackling a Harrah’s St. Louis favorite like Charlie Gitto’s toasted ravioli.”
In conjunction with the event, Harrah’s will host a food drive to benefit the Ethiopian Society. For one week prior to the Harrah’s World Toasted Ravioli-Eating Championship, guests who bring in a canned good will receive Mardi Gras beads.
