Krystal Qualifier in Macon

10-07-2004

The Krystal Square Off, the Krystal Company’s 10-event hamburger-eating circuit, moves on to Macon, GA, as it winds its way through the Southeast to the championship event in Chattanooga, TN, on November 13.

The championship series, which will crown the hamburger-eating champion of the world, will feature “The Krystal,” the small square Krystal hamburger usually eaten as part of multiple servings.

The championship offers a $10,000 first prize and is expected to draw the nation’s top eaters. The winners of each of nine qualifying events will earn a seat at the final championship table. In addition to the $10,000 first prize, Krystal will offer $5,000 to the second place finisher and $2,500 to the third place eater.

The LeFevres, competitive eating’s foremost married couple, will compete in Macon. Richard LeFevre is ranked number three in the world and his wife, Carlene, is ranked number seven.

Founded in 1932, The Krystal Company is the oldest quick service restaurant chain in the Southeast and the second oldest chain in the United States. Enjoyed by three generations of Americans, Krystal is a cultural icon. By delivering great food, quality service and fair value for over 70 years, the Krystal brand has assumed a prominent place in the Southeast’s cultural landscape.

The Krystal Square Off is an IFOCE-sanctioned series and the IFOCE will handle all registration. Those over the age of 18 may sign up at www.IFOCE.com
