Chestnut Breaks His Own Gyoza Record

08-23-2008

Joey Chestnut again stunned the world with his gurgitory prowess on Saturday, downing 231 gyoza in 10 minutes to break his own world record at the Los Angeles Nisei Week World Gyoza Eating Championship. The number one eater in the world was able to beat his friend and rival, Pat Bertoletti, by 30 dumplings. Bertoletti has his own dumpling record, however, having just returned as a champion from the Czech Republic's annual plum dumpling eating championship. In Los Angeles, Rich LeFevre placed third with 175 gyoza, and Gravy Brown and Double-O Kevin came in with 135 and 107, respectively. In a pledge to raise money for charity the 2007 Nisei week queen and her court collectively ate 110 gyoza.
