Spike TV and MLE™

Spike TV and Major League Eating announced today that four MLE specials will be broadcast on the popular cable network in 2007.

Each broadcast will be one-hour featuring Major League Eaters in exciting competitions.

The first show, called the St. Patrick’s Day ChowDown, will take place in Savannah, Georgia during the historic southern city’s massive St. Patrick’s Day celebration. It will air on Spike on March 17th at 7pm EST.

“Guys are hungry for new and exciting sports on television that satisfy the craving for gut-busting action,” notes Kevin Kay, General Manager, Spike TV.

“We’re very excited that Spike has embraced the fast-growing sport of competitive eating,” said George Shea of MLE and Shea Baer Productions, which is producing the programming. “We feel that our exciting competitions and compelling eating stars are a perfect fit for the Spike audience.”

Spike TV is available in 91 million homes and is a division of MTV Networks, a division of Viacom International Inc. Major League Eating was developed by the International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE), which was established in 1997.
