Cannoli-Eating Contest at feast of San Genarro

08-30-2006

The Cannoli-Eating Title, currently held by eating legend Edward Cookie Jarvis, will be up for grabs on Friday, September 15th at the 79th Annual Feast of San Gennaro in New York's Little Italy.

Last year nearly 1,000 festival goers watched as Cookie beat an impressive field of eaters including Tim Janus, Brian Subich, Tim Holden and Crazy Legs Conti. Cookie consumed 26 large cannoli in six minutes to secure the championship title.

The 79th Annual Feast of San Gennaro will run through Sunday, September 24, 2005. Presented annually since 1996 by Figli di San Gennaro, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, this year’s Feast will again bring more than 1 million people to the streets of Little Italy in the annual salute to the Patron Saint of Naples. The street festivities include parades, entertainment and food stands.

The cannoli-eating event will take place at 2 pm. This is an IFOCE event and sign up will take place via the IFOCE.com website.
