Competitive Eating Star Joey Chestnut Takes Jalapeno Poppers

Comfirming what seems to be a new order within the ranks of American competitive eating, Joey Chestnut won the Jalapeno Popper-Eating Contest, narrowly beating rising rookie Patrick Bertoletti.

Chestnut consumed 118 jalapeno poppers in 10 minutes, followed by Bertoletti with 105. Eater X Tim Janus placed third with 96 while Jed Donohue, the world record holder in jalapeno pepper eating (152 in 15 minutes), placed fourth with 63.

The event was held at the University of Arizona Spring Fling in Tucson, AZ on Saturday, April 8. Loppi Kirschner won the amateur contest on Friday.
