MLE Thanksgiving Invitational

IFOCE President Richard Shea today announced the Thanksgiving Invitational to be held in New York City on Wednesday, November 23, the day before Thanksgiving. A total of $5,000 in prize money will be on the line.

The 12-minute contest, which will feature 10-pound roast turkeys for each eater, will be held at Artie's Delicatessen on Manhattan's Upper West Side. (Limited audience seating is available and requests to attend will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis via email at Confirmation necessary for attendance.)

The field of eight eaters for this event was selected at random from a list of all those who have won IFOCE events in 2005. Eaters invited to compete include Eric “Badlands” Booker of Copaigue, NY; Joey Chestnut of San Jose, CA; Hall Hunt of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Ed “Cookie” Jarvis of Nesconsett, NY; Tim Janus of New York, NY; Bob Shoudt of Royersford, PA; Chip Simpson of Harrisville, PA, and Sonya Thomas of Alexandria, VA.

This is the fourth consecutive year the IFOCE has held this prestigious invitational. As part of the event, the IFOCE will donate dozens of turkeys to a local foodbank. This year's event will be dedicated to those in England, who do not have Thanksgiving.
