Two more regional champions have been crowned as Nathan's Famous continues its hotly contested qualifying circuit. Joey Chestnut edged out Hungry Charles and Jed Donahue to win the San Francisco qualifier with 20.5 Nathan's Famous dogs and buns in 12 minutes. Fans that gathered at Century Theatres in Daly City erupted when they learned that Chestnut, their hometown hero, will advance to Coney. In Tempe, Ron Koch knocked down 21.

Meanwhile, in Texas, Levi Oliver went into overtime against Donavan Busta in the Tamale Eating Championships. Oliver came out the victor.
