Kobayashi, Thomas, Lefevre at Krystal Square Off

Takeru Kobayashi of Japan showed his dominance yet again at the Krystal Square Off in Chattanooga, TN, by eating 69 Krystals in eight minutes to win $10,000, possession of the Krystal Belt and a hand-blown crystal trophy featuring the favorite Krystal burgers.

Sonya Thomas of Virginia consumed an impressive 46 burgers to place second and win $5,000, while Rich LeFevre of nevada beat out a field of top eaters to place third and take home $2,500.

The event was broadcast live as a half-hour show on Fox that was hosted by Richard Shea and syndicated to nearly a dozen afilliates in the United States. The Krystal production and marketing team, led by Michael Williams and Brad Wahl, provided a spectacular arena for the event, which was attended by between 500 and 1,000 fans.
