Oleg in LI, Boone in Atlanta
As the Nathan's Famous qualifying season winds down, two more eaters have secured seats for the Fourth of July International Hot Dog eating Contest in Coney Island.
Oleg Zhornitskiy of Brigthon Beach Brooklyn consumed 18 3/4 Nathan's Famous hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes at the Long Island Ducks qualifier at Citbank Park in Long Island.
On the same day, Dale Boone posted an anemic 15.5 hot dogs and buns at Zoo Atlanta in Atlanta, GA. Boone's lackluster performance caused enormous regret among many aspiring eaters who could have beaten that number, but who chose other contests to qualify.
Only one seat remains open -- the NYC Civil Service seat to be determined on Wednesday, June 30 at the South Street Seaport.
