Broadway at the Beach

This annual springtime classic, which occurs in sunny Myrtle Beach, was anyone's game. The tournament consisted of three speedy elimination rounds and a final head-to-head contest, a steeplechase of sorts.

Each year Myrtle Beach's top restaurants present the foods that are eaten in competition. In the past, Broadway at the Beach has presented eaters with dishes ranging from shrimp to frozen custard.

Rain and hail greeted the gurgitators at the annual Taste of Broadway Ultimate Eating Competition but the event went off as scheduled. Humble Bob Shoudt took the title this year, edging out Bubba Yarbrough in the final Tiramisu Gelato round sponsored by Gelato Joe's. Eater X, the world Tiramisu champ, was bounced in the fourth round, which was peel and eat shrimp provided by Key West Grille.
