CHESTNUT SMASHES CHEESEBURG-EATING RECORD!
Joey Chestnut ate 52 White Hut Cheeseburgs in 10 minutes at the 2017 edition of the White Hut World Cheeseburg Eating Championship At The Big E to set a new world record. He was unrelenting, dominant, precise and composed.
So too were Carmen Cincotti, who finished with 49.5, and Geoffrey Esper, who would finish with 47.5. The top three finishers in this year's event all comfortably bested the 2016 winning total of 41.
People, we are living in a golden age for our proud sport. Do not take days like today for granted, nor temper your wonder. The best eaters in the world are getting better. At the pointy northern end of the IFOCE rankings, iron is sharpening iron at a rate of excellence never seen before. To win in 2017—anywhere and against any opposition—is to distinguish yourself. There are no easy wins for anyone on the circuit. Victory demands excellence each and every time.
