Location: Chicago, IL
REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS CLOSED DUE TO CAPACITY!
There is no better place to be this coming Friday, June the 10th than Ribfest Chicago—that great city's annual celebration of all that is good and decent and holy and rib-centric. As Major League Eating has proudly done each and every year for the past six years, we again return for the next installment of one of the signature events on MLE's annual calendar of sanctioned, professional eating contests. Drum roll, please: Step on up and submit thyself to the ultimate examination of one's love and acceptance of the delicious rib. May we present: RibMania VII at Ribfest Chicago XVIII. In keeping with this event's grand tradition of using roman numerals in place of today's more commonly utilized Hindu-Arabic-based numeral system, the event will be referred to as RibMania Vee Eye Eye at Ribfest Chicago Ex Vee Eye Eye Eye at every given opportunity. It’s not at all annoying. Roll with it. Major League Eaters from near and far are warmly invited to sign up to compete in this Championship event.
Last year's event—RibMania VI at Ribfest Chicago XVII, for those keeping score at home—was won by Michelle Lesco of Tucson, AZ. The win marked Ms Lesco's first Championship in Major League Eating competition. (Yes, she had previously claimed qualifying events, but not, until last June, a Championship all of her own.) Her smile following the contest said it all: Life is worth the slog for these moments of glory. Do not expect them. Do not covet them. Do not forsake them. They will come soon enough to the true and just and good. People like Michelle Lesco.
But that was last year and history’s pages are stained yellow soon enough. Do you dare challenge the best rib eaters in the world? Do you plan on being on Chicago's beautiful northside in early summer? Can Lesco make it a two-peat? Will another rise? And if so, whom? This is RibMania VII at Ribfest Chicago XVIII. At the table or in the crowd—don't you ever miss it!

This contest will take place at 6pm Central, on FRIDAY June 10, 2016 at the Chicago Reader Stage at 4185 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL, as part of the 18th Annual Ribfest Chicago Festival!
About Ribfest Chicago! Celebrating its 18th summer, Ribfest Chicago has been featured on Food Network’s “Eating America, with Anthony Anderson”, included as one of the 10 best fests by USA Today and was voted three years running as the Best Food Festival in the Chicago Reader. In 2016 we will be serving up more smokin’ music and barbecue as we cook up Chicago’s favorite food and music festival.
From humble beginnings in a local parking lot, Ribfest has grown from a two-day, three-block party to three-night, five-block event, hosting more than thirty Chicagoland rib and non-rib vendors. The quality of entertainment has made Ribfest an internationally-recognized music festival that hosts premier touring bands. But despite its impressive growth and success, the fest has maintained its neighborhood feel.
It’s no wonder that Ribfest Chicago remains one of the city’s best summer attractions.
Please note: This contest is restricted to participants aged 18 and over.
