JOEY CHESTNUT CLAIMS LEWISVILLE TAMALES CROWN!
Major League Eating is proud to announce the return of the Western Days Festival World Tamale Eating Championship Presented By Market St. The world's greatest eaters will again descend upon Lewisville, TX, for their annual assault on tamales. Saturday the 27th of September, 2014, is a bad day to be a tamale in Lewisville, TX. Tamales: Consider yourself on notice. Get out while you can.
At last year's event, the Greatest Eater in The World, the man they call Jaws, the #1-ranked MLE eater—Joseph Chestnut of San Jose, CA—triumphed with 91 tamales in 10 minutes. He is the current world record holder in this discipline, having consumed a staggering 102 tamales in 12 minutes in 2012. Chestnut is returning to the event in 2014 with but one thing on his mind: Smashing his record and scattering it into the warm fall Lewisvillian air so that all may know his name and speak it in hushed, reverent tones.
This is the Western Days Festival World Tamale Eating Championship Presented By Market St—a 12-minute battle of man and woman versus tamale. Tamales. Plural. In the crowd or at the table, don't you ever miss it!
