Recap
STONIE DEFEATS CHESTNUT TWICE IN ONE WEEKEND WITH PUMPKIN PIE WR EFFORT!

All hail Stonie! After notching his fourth head-to-head win again Joey Chestnut the previous day in Toronto in the Smoke's Poutinerie discipline, Stonie went two-four-two with a win at the inaugural Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival World Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship. His 20 lb, 13 oz effort secured the win a WR in the process. It was more than another win—it was a win against Chestnut, a win against the established order of things, a win against what is meant to be. He is David slinging rocks at Goliath. And he connected again today.

Smooth and fast throughout, Stonie once again cemented his reputation for effortless speed at the MLE table. Others must fight; he simply does. Like a silent automobile in top gear careering past you on the highway. Like the boxer with lightning jabs. Like a speed skater in a very tight bodysuit, long limbs stretching further than the clock can tick. The great ones make it look easy.

He is in his element. He is Matthew Stonie. And tonight he smiles in the warm bask of the Northern California sun. And well so he should.

All About The CSD Giant Pumpkin Festival of Elk Grove!
What began in 1994 as a small harvest celebration has become Elk Grove’s largest family festival. The CSD Giant Pumpkin Festival of Elk Grove welcomes guests of all ages to Elk Grove Park over the first weekend in October each year. In 2013, the Festival attracted an estimated 40,000 guests.

Some of California's heftiest pumpkins weigh off at the Festival. In fact, it's been the site setting the new California state record for three years straight and is the current World Record holder of the average Top 10 GIANT Pumpkins. But the Festival is so much more than just portly produce. Other attractions include a scarecrow contest, pumpkin boat race, recipe contest, shopping, lots of kids’ activities, and two stages of family entertainment.

This year celebrating the festival’s 20th Year we will be featuring a “Throwback GIANT Pumpkin theme. 20th celebration attractions include the Elk Grove World Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship, an interactive living timeline of the festival’s 20 years and a special agriculture exhibit.
