National Sweet Corn Eating Championship

Date: 04/28/2013
Location: West Palm Beach, FL
Winner: The Notorious BOB, AKA Mr Bob Shoudt, Sweet Corn
Total Prizes: $4,500 total cash purse

Nothing spells summer’s coming like the aroma of sweet corn filling the air. And so it was that Major League Eating returned to Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds on Sunday, April 28 for the National Sweet Corn Eating Championship—a legend of the MLE circuit and one of its most-demanding. This year’s total prize purse was increased to an all-time high of $4,500! The event marked the second leg of MLE’s annual commitment to the vegetable kingdom, Veggie Weekend, as it followed Stockton, CA’s, Deep Fried Asparagus event held on the Saturday, April 27th.

When the clock read 0:00 after the demanding 12-minute contest it was BOB Shoudt—World #6—who stood tallest, downing 35 ears of delicious corn. Crazy Legs Conti came second with 34, while Erik The Red Denmark ate 33 for the bronze. Jacksonville's Jon Bello ate 29 and newcomer Joe Noto ate 17 to round out the money positions
