Let it be known that on September 1, 2012, The Great One, The Man They Call Jaws, The Man From San Jose, The Greatest Eater Who Has Ever Lived, The #1-Ranked Eater In The World—Joey Chestnut—claimed the Buffalo Buffet Bowl at The National Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo, NY. The annual precursor to the U.S. National Buffalo Wing Eating Championship was no appetizer—the greatest eaters in the world faced off against five pounds of various examples of Buffalo cuisine in a battle of speed and capacity. Sonya Thomas came second, while Juliet Lee took third.

The National Buffalo Wing Festival takes place on Labor Day Weekend (Sept 1-2) at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY. Part of the proceeds from the festival go to benefit Western New York charities, raising more than $225,000 over the festival's history.
