The Fourth Annual National Buffalo Wing Festival took place September 2, 3 and 4, 2005, Labor Day weekend, at Dunn Tire Park in Buffalo, NY, home of the Buffalo chicken wing.
Part of the festivities was the U.S. Buffalo Wing Eating Championship on Saturday, September 3.
In a stunning, career performance Eric Badlands Booker ate 137 wings to take the championship and beat top-ranked Sonya Thomas as well as the legendary Edward Cookie Jarvis of Long Island.
The event was also a large-scale fundraising effort for hurricane relief effors. The festival and the IFOCE already have raised more than $3,000 for disaster relief and plan to raise significant additional funds.
Big Brian Subich, who competed in Buffalo over the weekend, started a $1 per chicken wing pledge drive and lead an effort among other eaters to raise additional fudning during the weekend.
