Day-Lee/Nisei Week Gyoza Eating Championship

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Date: 08-21-2010
Winner: Ben Monson

Ben Monson won the second world championship of his career on Saturday after eating 189 Day-Lee Gyoza in 10 minutes at the LA Nisei Week Gyoza Eating World Championship. Monson won handedly with second place finisher Erik "the Red" Denmark eating 134 and third place finisher Kevin Ross downing 116. The three Major League Eaters headlined the Nisei Week field that also included the Nisei Week Queen and Her Court (collectively eating 86 Gyoza).

For his efforts, Monson walked away with $1,000 and the title which was previously held by Joey Chestnut. No word yet on whether Chestnut will return to the 2011 Day-Lee Gyoza Eating Championship to challenge Monson for the undisputed championship.
