Ben Monson claimed the first spot to Coney Island after eating 29 Nathan's Famous hot dogs and buns at the NY NY Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon, May 6.
Monson, currently ranked #7 in the world, has had a meteoric rise up the MLE ranks since turning pro in September 2009. Already with a win in flautas last December, Monson added the Nathan's qualifier victory to his fast-growing bib sheet of accolades.
Two days after the Nathan's Las Vegas victory, Monson flew to Boonville, MO and came but a few ounces from securing the Isle Boonvile World Boneless Buffalo Wing Eating Title. Eater X edged out Monson in a 2-minute overtime eat-off.
