On September 22, some of the nation's top Major League Eaters met in South Portland, Maine for the Costa Vida World Burrito Eating Championship.
Maine, usually known for its lobster and chowdah, for the first time proved itself to be a burrito landmark in New England.
The Big Kahuna burrito at Costa Vida is 18 ounces full of rice, beans, sweet pork, and cheese. Tim "Eater X" Janus was able to consume 10.5 of these mammoth burritos in 10 minutes, followed closely by Sonya Thomas, who ate 10, and Gravy Brown, who came in third with 6.5.
