On Saturday, April 28, Major League Eaters from around the nation converged on the Stockton Asparagus Festival for the World Deep-Fried Asparagus Eating Championship. The title once again belongs to Joey Chestnut.
This is Chestnut's third time in a row to win this contest, and he beat his previous record by over two pounds. Erik the Red Denmark came in 2nd place, and Kevin Ross came in 3rd.
The Stockton Asparagus Festival is a three-day, multi-event, food and entertainment festival that pays homage to all things asparagus.
The festival features two performing stages, an Asparagus Alley with the best deep fried asparagus found anywhere, one of the finest celebrity chef cooking demonstration kitchens, a fabulous Spear-Its of the Valley wine and beer pavilion, a craft show, exhibits by more than 70 food purveyors and 100 specialty merchandise vendors, and much more!
