Fast food icon Krystal, along with the IFOCE, will host 8 official qualifying contests for the 2006 Krystal Square Off World Hamburger Eating Championship circuit.
The first of these qualifiers was held in Chattanooga, TN, home of the world famous Krystal. The Lookouts Baseball game hosted some of the finest gurgitators in the country as they vie for the regional title.
Sonya Thomas banged down a personal best 62 Krystals in this qualifier, securing her seat in the finals on October 28. She set a new female record and tied Joey Chestnut's eight minute American record.
In second place with 30 fewer burgers was the Mad Greek, Chris Abatsas. Shaun Kesler placed third with 23 Krystals.
